What is web crawler?
Before we go in depth of web crawler. raise your hands if you are aware of search engines (google chrome, mozilla , yahoo search etc.)
A web crawler is a software program that visits websites and reads their pages and other information in order to create entries for a search engine index. In simple terms, indexing is the process of adding web pages into Google search. all web search engines like (google chrome, mozilla , yahoo search etc.) have such a program also known as "spider" or "bot". Google's main crawler is "Googlebot".

A better idea for ranking higher in search engines is to let only vital parts of your blog/website be indexed. Avoid indexing unnecessary archives like tags, categories, and all other useless pages
How to request google to crawl / re-crawl your site.
Follow these simple steps:
- Go to: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ and log in
- If you have not already, add and verify the site with the "Add a Site" button
- So Click on the site name for the one you want to manage
- Click Crawl -> Fetch as Google
- This Is Optional: if you want to do a specific page only, type in the URL
- Click Fetch
- Click Submit to Index
- And Select URL and its direct links
- Then, Click OK and you're done.
